Match Careers With Diverse Personalities
Careers are traditionally viewed as successive situations making up people’s work life. Anyone can choose whatever career he or she wants depending on interests, hobbies and skills. One may opt for a musical career, or perhaps a sporting career without having to be a professional musician or athlete. But then in this century, a “career” is referred to series of positions or jobs wherein one earns money from.
As ideas about self direction and personal choice aggrandize in the 21st century, as aided by the boom in technology such as the Internet, and the prevalence of having various works, concept of a career shifted from well-defined series of achievements as pointed out by chronological resumes of previous jobs, to pursuance of a better tomorrow. Broadly speaking, career is indicative of a person’s work roles in their life.
Choosing a career is such a daunting task especially for the many who are yet unsure of what they want to do with their life. To be successful in a chosen career, it has a lot to do with what you most enjoy doing, rather than how much you will be getting from it. There are lots of people who are into high-paying jobs and yet consider themselves unhappy and unsuccessful. Why? This is simply because they cannot find satisfaction and happiness to what they are doing. Thus, career is not just about earning a million bucks, but gratifying one’s spirit as well.
So how do you choose your career? How will you know it is the right path for you? To ascertain whether or not you are in the suitable career path, it helps to scrutinize your values and personalities to help you discern what is rightfully a career choice for you. You may start looking at your personality type. Do you like playing or writing numbers? Or does your writing copy that of the book model taught in schools? If so, then perhaps you may like to be a bookkeeper, a cost estimator, or an accountant.
Researchers noted that people tend to possess distinctive personality traits that may be categorized into various professional careers. Your career and personality compatibility plays a significant role whether your career is nerve-racking, boring, or fulfilling. Therefore, know well your personality trait. The closer your personality matches to your chosen job, the more successful and happier you will be.
Career planning never has to be costly. You certainly do not need any elaborated plans to be a total success. Passion for a particular thing is essential enough to get you where you want to go. The drive to work out things is another factor in molding a successful career. What particular task, wherein while you are at it, you tend to forget that time has passed because you are deeply fascinated and engrossed with it? Is there any activity or hobby that arouses your energy level? Or what is that something you find fulfilling that actually doing it makes you felt you have just made some positive difference? If you ever feel any of these, somehow you know what it will be like to do something that is in harmony with your purpose in life. From which, you can define what career will be pleasing and suitable for you.
Favorably, career goals have to be filtered based on the economic and business realities of one’s life. With adequate introspection, the likelihood of living a comfortable life and at the same time, catering to a professional call in alignment to what you think as your life’s purpose, is highly attainable. As soon as you have completed the self-analysis process, you will then have a clearer idea of what industry or career type you will be most comfortable in.
Successful careers are not necessarily the best of everything. It depends on how you define success and what makes a good career for you. You can be successful in your own right and be happy even with a low-paying job or be unhappy with a high-earner endeavor, for real career is doing something you utterly love, something that makes you feel fulfilled, and something that blends well with your personality and special talents.
