Change management is defined as an approach to change in organization, societies and individuals. In pragmatic sense, change management refers to the act of managing the changes that can come to an individual, a group or organization. It pertains to managing the individual or the people that can be affected by the change.

When confronted with changes, the most obvious character that can be greatly affected by it is the human. Being a rational being, humans oftentimes seek for rationale to the changes that have occurred or to happen in the future.

In an organization, individual workers mostly rank and file would always seek the management for answers about the changes that have happened in the working place or on their respective jobs. The management in an organization is responsible for the organizational change management.

The management has the responsibility to detect trends in the microenvironment and macroenvironment level. Companies are oftentimes met with the need for changes particularly when it comes to innovation. It is always a challenge for companies having a growth policy to keep up with the market through innovativeness. Moreover, companies are also challenged by many factors which have an effect to its productivity and profitability. The future performance of a company is a concern of every individual in the management level. To attain the objectives and goals of a company, management may see the need for changes in the organizational level.

Managers have the responsibility in informing their co-workers and rank and files about the possible changes to occur in the working place and how those changes are going to affect the way the normal working place functions. Awareness and knowledge to change in an organization are important aspects that should be dealt with by the organization’s management. Awareness of the possible change can be made by conveying the information. Managers should bring to light the issue of changes in an organization to fellow workers and rank and files by conveying the reasons and the necessities of changes to take place in the working place or to the whole organization. Communication is a relevant aspect in bringing awareness to changes. It is an utmost importance that the management should utilize the best communication tools or media in informing the changes to workers or the parties involved in an organization.

In emphasizing the possible change in an organization, the management has to bring out information to the workers so the desire to participate and support the change can be affirmed or opposed. Response from the workers or the parties involved who can be greatly affected by the change in an organization should be looked forward to by the management. To prevent the undesirable outcome that might occur, the management should anticipate the reaction of the parties involved to changes and must have the understanding and the knowledge on how the changes are to be accepted.

The management should assess the level of changes to happen in an organization. In this way, the management can make a deliberation on how to inform the changes to the parties involved and in what kind of changes in the organization is to be tackled in-depth with the participation of the parties involved with it. Agreement to possible changes should be reached by the parties at each end. Moreover, the management should make an emphasis on how to go about with the changes.

Organizational change may occur when there is a change in the structure of the organizational chart. The management, technology, business policy, the working place, job description, department, employment and employment status are prone to changes. It is important for the management to decide on ways in implementing the changes particularly when there is a need for new skills, technologies or behavior towards the changed organization.

Sustaining the change can be made in the organizational level though temporary.

Communication and preparedness for change in an organization are important aspects in organizational change management. Organizational change management is oftentimes applied for efficiency and effectiveness in the working environment and during the process of change.
