Growing problem with working online

I have been using the internet for a very long time. In all my time on the internet, I've found a problem that has yet to be addressed properly. In this day and age, everyone wants to earn an extra buck. Many people look for ways to make money online. I personally have done this for a very long time. But everywhere you look online there are companies that are using this to their advantage. They are scamming people into thinking that if they invest money or pay to join their program, they will be rewarded with a very high income. As you may know, most of these people never see any income and end up loosing the money they invested. I read somewhere that American's lost almost 50 million dollars just by scams online. To me, this is very sad.

These are people that are just looking for work because they need more money. But they end up loosing money instead of gaining it. I don't feel that it is the consumers fault, but the companies that take the money need to be help liable. In all my job hunting online, I have only found a few legitimate companies to work for. I'm not going to go into which one because I'm not doing this to get anyone to sign up for anything. I just feel this issue needs to be addressed.

I personally have lost hundreds of dollars from signing up with online companies expecting to be able to get compensated in return. I just don't want this to continue to happen to hard-working people who are just trying to ear earn extra money for their family.

I don't know what to do about this but I just want to throw it out there and see if anyone had any suggestions. People always say "If it cost to join, then it's a scam" but obviously that is not working. These companies are making millions of dollars from hard-working people and somehow it needs to stop. I would love to hear from you and any thoughts you may have on this subject.
